I'm On Fire (To Sing For The Lord!)

I've been a composer since I was twelve, and I sold my first song while I was still in high school. So when I was saved by the Lord, it was natural to start writing praise music to perform. Here's one - listen carefully, and you can hear the bass fiddle laying down the swing beat...

I’m On Fire (to sing for the Lord!)

(verse 1)

You know that Satan doesn’t have a monopoly on fire –

And the devil doesn’t have a patent on the flame or the sword.

‘Cause when it comes to praising God, we’re burning with desire –

And with ev’ry song we’re singing, we’re praising the Name of the Lord!

(chorus)

I’m on fire with desire to sing for the Lord!            (I’m on fire – )

Yes, I’m on fire with desire to sing for the Lord!

And the flames are rising higher – (the heat is rising faster - )

we’re singing to inspire –     (we’re singing for the Master)

we’ll master all the songs that we’re singing as a choir…

There is a passion that burns to sing of the Passion that earned propitiation.

Because the blood that was spilled when He was killed paid our room and our board

You see, when Jesus ascended, He ended our lack of salvation.

So with ev’ry passionate breath, we sing of the Passion and death of the Lord!

When Jesus died on that cross (You know He understood the cost!)

Satan found he had lost (‘Cause Jesus showed He was the Boss!)

When He was nailed to that tree (He was fulfilling prophecy!)

He rejoined the Trinity, so he could save both you and me!

We have a passion for the Christ, and it lights an open flame.

And our passion won’t be quenched when it’s drenched with joy that can’t be ignored.

Because the fire, we feel it burn whenever we yearn to sing His name –

And with ev’ry song we’re singing, we’re praising the Name of the Lord!
